Help your child develop an understanding of number sequence by placing numerals in the correct order to create their own number line.
As children arrange the numeral cards, they begin to understand how numbers relate to one another and recognise which numbers come before and after. This develops more than numeral recognition—it helps children see numbers as part of an organised and predictable sequence.
Number lines are used regularly throughout Kindergarten to support counting, addition, subtraction and mathematical problem-solving. Building familiarity with them early can help children approach increasingly complex number concepts with greater confidence.
The included demonstration video shows you how to introduce and adapt the activity confidently with your child at home.
Make it easier
Begin with numerals 1–5. Place the first numeral down as a starting point and help your child identify which number comes next.
As their confidence develops, gradually extend the number line to include numerals 1–10.
Make it harder
Progress to numerals 1–15 and then 1–20. Mix the cards before beginning and encourage your child to construct the complete number line independently.
You can also remove one or more cards from a completed number line and challenge your child to identify the missing numerals.
