Help your child practice recognising and correctly forming numerals with this engaging roll, flip and trace activity.
Children roll a die or flip a numeral card before locating and tracing the corresponding numeral on the included formation guide. This combines early numeracy learning with the fine motor control needed for writing.
Learning to form numerals correctly is an important Kindergarten skill. Regular tracing practice helps children remember the correct starting points and movements while developing greater control and confidence when recording their mathematical thinking.
The included demonstration video shows you how to introduce the activity and support your child’s numeral formation at home.
Make it easier
Begin with numerals 1–5 or use a standard die to focus on numbers 1–6.
Demonstrate how to trace each numeral by following the starting points and directional arrows. Your child can also trace the numeral with their finger before using a pencil or marker.
Make it harder
Progress to numerals 1–10 and then 1–20. Encourage your child to form the selected numeral independently after tracing it.
When they are ready, cover the formation guide and challenge them to write the numeral without tracing or copying.
